From Older to Elder: Hybrid Program
The Retreats

First Retreat: Sunday, August 18 – Wednesday August 21, 2024
Second Retreat: Sunday, February 9 – Wednesday, February 12 2025

Location & Accommodations

Located in a secluded valley of the Point Reyes National Seashore, the lodge where we will be staying is surrounded by 140 miles of trails winding through uniquely diverse habitats perfect for hiking, biking, and wildlife watching. The lodge provides a fully equipped guest kitchen, cozy common areas with great views, and an outdoor patio and barbecue, along with the chance to experience the wonders of this unspoiled coastal wilderness. All guests have access to  shared bathrooms.Wifi is available in all buildings (there is no cell service in the area though).

Shared Lodging

Most people will stay in either dormitory-style lodging (upstairs) or in a group room in the Farmhouse (downstairs). There are two very large rooms with six sets of bunk beds (we are using the lower bunks). Each dormitory room has its own bathroom with toilets, sinks, and showers. There is also one shared room available in the farmhouse (where we will be cooking and eating) with 4 beds and a bathroom.

Private Lodging (For an additional fee)

If you would like to sleep alone, there are three single rooms in another building very close to our meeting building, for an additional fee of $150/night.

In the application, we will ask you for your preferences of accommodation.

If you choose to arrange your own accommodations, Motel Inverness is an example of one of the most reasonably priced (though more costly than our single rooms unless you share a room at this hotel), or if you’d like to camp at Olema Campgrounds. Both are 17-20 min drive from our lodge.

FAQ

Q. What will the food be at retreats?

We will provide dinners for all nights at the retreat as well as beverages and snacks. All food will be vegetarian, with gluten and dairy-free options if there are people who need that. Please indicate so on your registration.

Participants will bring their own breakfasts and lunches. We will have a large kitchen for participants to use any time. For people flying in, we will do our best to connect you with a local person so you can get a ride to Point Reyes and stop at a grocery store to purchase the food you need.

Q. Will the food be kosher?

Food will be vegetarian and prepared in a non-kosher kitchen.

In making its food choices, Wilderness Torah prepares food according to the highest ethical standards, including kosher, local, organic, seasonal, humane, and socially just. Wilderness Torah prioritizes sourcing fresh, unprocessed foods, and when choosing processed or packaged foods, aims to purchase certified kosher foods. Wilderness Torah may at times prioritize certain values, such as local or organic, over kosher-certified.

Q. Is the location for retreats wheelchair accessible?

We would like to make this program fully wheelchair accessible, and are sadly not able to manage that for this first pilot program. It will be accessible for people with limited mobility but who can navigate at least a couple of blocks, walking on sand (we will be at Limantour beach on the first and last day of each retreat). You can stay on the ground floor in the group room at the Farmhouse or in a private room (extra cost) and not have to go up any stairs.
