Nature Day

Wilderness Torah provides a 3–6 hour trip in a wilderness park for day schools, synagogue groups, and JCCs to facilitate a Jewish nature experience using themes drawn from Jewish text such as Torah teachings, Jewish stories, and holidays. We have kids-only programs and family programs.

This program will include all-group gathering time and small-group trail time to explore these key themes in a framework within the wilderness for a deeply Jewish experience.

  • Participants learn some basics of the intrinsic relationship between Judaism and nature.
  • Participants feel the season and the beauty of nature by enjoying time in nature at this special season.
  • Participants feel connected to nature as a means of cultivating their spirituality their role as stewards of the earth (shomrei adamah).
Wilderness Torah field staff, in partnership with your organization’s faculty, will take your participants on a journey in a wilderness park. Our mentors are experienced Jewish nature educators who also teach in Wilderness Torah’s youth programs and festivals.
A typical schedule and program might look like this:
1 pm – All Group Opening Circle & Welcome
1:45 pm – Small Hiking/Learning Groups of 10–20 individuals
3:30 pm – Closing Circle and Stories of the Day
4 pm – Participants’ Departure
