Propose an Offering
In the Wilderness Torah tradition of collaboration and co-creation, we invite you to consider offering a class, workshop, experience, music, teaching etc. to the Sukkot on the Farm Community. We invite you to send us a proposal to offer something you are passionate about! All offerings should align with the themes of Sukkot, including themes regarding agriculture, the harvest, (food preparation and food issues), the four species, the water drawing tradition, the book of Ecclesiastes (traditionally read for Sukkot), Ushpizin (the holy guests), as well as general themes around earth-based Judaism. Additionally, if you are a parent with children or teens, consider offering something for our youth program.
Please Submit Your Offering By Sunday, August 22
You can fill out this form and email it to info@wildernesstorah.org.
We will choose offerings to balance the energies of the four elements. When you propose an offering, consider which elemental energy it aligns with most.
Earth – Connecting to the earth and body; cultivating community
Offerings might include nature walk, pickling, harvesting, yoga or qi gong, telling stories or leading songs.
Air – Inspiring ideas, vision and new possibilities
Offerings might include text study, visionary meditation or hitbodedut.
Fire – Activating spirit and creativity
Offerings might include art projects, singing, dancing, hiking or making fire.
Water – Healing for the soul
Offerings might include a writing workshop, healing arts or providing healing space.
Offering proposals will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis; there is limited space in the schedule, therefore it is likely that not all offerings will be accepted. Please take no offense if your offering is not chosen for this festival.
Also, someone from the program/ritual committee may contact you to help you adapt your idea to best fit our program needs.
Tips for Submitting a Session Proposal
Be Creative – Sukkot on the Farm Festival is a community festival meant to be joyful, educationally relevant to the season and the holiday, spiritually rich in alignment with the celebratory nature of Sukkot, and exploratory in nature as we re-learn how to do Judaism in connection with the earth and the elements!
Be Interactive – The more people become involved in what you are offering, the more people learn. We invite you to embrace the 50-50 rule – meaning during your offering, you should not be speaking to folks for more than half the time. Lets be interactive and share!
Offer Something that Excites You - Personal experience and inspiration are great places to start. If you are excited about what you are offering, it’s likely others will be too!
